We just got information from FDOT regarding a Southern Boulevard Resurfacing Project. As this will probably impact most South End commuters and businesses please review this flyer as well as additional information below. If you are interested in speaking with someone from the project, join the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, when they will host an informational Open House for the resurfacing project on Southern Boulevard/ State Road 80.
This 0.77-mile project began Jan. 3, 2012, and will last 170 days, weather permitting. The estimated cost for construction is $1.5 million, with an estimated completion date of summer 2012. Work is being performed by Community Asphalt Corporation, with the Florida Department of Transportation’s Palm Beach Operations Center overseeing the project.
Scope of Work:
Milling and resurfacing Southern Boulevard/SR 80 from Parker
Avenue to just west of Washington Road
Bridge joint replacement
Minor drainage improvements
ADA upgrades to sidewalk, crosswalks, and pedestrian signals
Signalization and signage work
Maintenance of Traffic:
In order to do this work safely, it will be necessary to close travel lanes and sidewalks at various times and locations. Work will be done in phases to minimize impacts to residents, businesses and the motoring public. Project-related lane closures may occur daily from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and nightly, 7:30 p.m. until 7:30 a.m., for paving operations. At least one lane on Southern Boulevard will remain open in each direction, and pedestrian access will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
This project will impact all businesses along this corridor along with the neighborhoods surrounding Southern Blvd. Should you have any questions, please contact Ms. Meredith Cruz at the 561.641.6440.
